One of the often discussed topics today is WATER. Oklahoma has more man-made lakes (200) than any other state, more than 1 million surface-acres of water and 2000 more miles of shoreline than the Atlantic. However….there is more to the story. And there are a growing number of people that are becoming concerned and aware of this critical resource, and the issues of the future. They do affect us all. Water – the quantity, the quality, the availability.
Hydro politics or the politics of water covers questions such as:
- Who makes the laws governing our water? The Federal government, the state Legislature, counties, cities and/or towns?
- Who will be setting the policies regarding the use and sale of our water in the future? How can you be a part of the policy making process?
- The Oklahoma Comprehensive Water Plan will be presented in 2011. How could the plan impact you and your water rights?
Dick Wheatley of RWC will inform us about what we need to be aware of concerning this important resource. He has been involved in government and legislative consulting since 1982, in such diverse areas including: Banking, Public Finance, Health Care, Mental Health Financing, Drug and Substance Abuse Laws, Oil & Gas Production, Electric Generation, Boat and Aerospace Manufacturing, Tax Credits and Incentives, Clean Water, Environmental Laws, and more.
